Abstract
This study is a descriptive comparative study on the financial performance of Indonesian state banks to
private banks in the period of 2002-2010. Data selected is the data of the 10 best bank based on the amount of
third-parties funds during the period 2002 to 2010. Performance comparison is based on financial ratios that are
included in CAMEL value calculation i.e. CAR, CAD, ROA, BOPO and LDR. Tests performed by t- test and Mann
Whitney test. Analytical results for each ratio indicates the different performance based on CAD and BDR ratio.
However, based on the ratio of CAR, ROA, BOPO, LDR there was no performance difference of them. Also, there
was no difference health levels beetwen the government bank with the private bank based on CAMEL. However,
the calculated of CAMEL value does not include management aspects (weighting 25%) and the ratio of call money
on current assets (weighting 5%).
