Abstract
This material object of the research is a Spongebob Squarepants movie entitled The Cent of Money created by Stephen Hillenburg for Nickelodeon and the formal object is capitalism. Relating to material object and formal object the writer composes the thesis entitled “Capitalism described in Mr. Krabs in Stephen Hillenburg’ The Spongebob Squarepants’s : The Cent of Money as a Marxism Theory”. The writer applies marxist literary by Karl Marx to analyze the script of the movie. The data analyzed on the theory of marxism by Karl Marx is to find out the character of Mr. Krabs as character in Spongebob Squarepants‟s The Cent of Money. The character of Mr. Krabs, the conflicts of Mr. Krabs and Mr. Krabs as a capitalist character were analyzed by applying marxism theory. The character of Mr. Krabs is greedy, selfish, materialist and fraudulent. External conflicts of Mr. Krabs are found between Mr. Krabs and Spongebob, between Mr. Krabs and other people arround him, and between Mr. Krabs and Garry. The internal conflicts occur between Mr. Krabs and himself. This internal conflict is a conflict between opposing feelings and emotions in Mr. Krabs own mind. In applying Marxist theory, the writer analyzes capitalism of Mr. Krabs. Mr. Krabs is concerned with money. He does not care others. He puts money above all. He will do almost anything to obtain money or not lose it no matter how small the amount, usually with no regard to the safety or well-being of others or even of himself.
