Abstract
The study is entitled “The Slang used in Jon Favreou‟s “Chef”. The writer chooses the title since there are a lot of slangs found in Chef movie. This research has three objectives. First, it is aimed at finding out the realization of slangs in Chef movie. Second, it is aimed at establishing the meaning of slangs exist in Chef movie. Third, it is aimed to determine the domain of the slangs used in the dialogues of “Chef” The method applied in this research is watching the movie, reading all the script and separate the slangs words from the script. All of slangs found in script of Chef movie were taken to be the data. In finding out the realization of slang words and its use, the writer watched the movie and found the script of Chef movie. In analyzing the data, the writer applied qualitative technique. From the data that have been analyzed, it was found that there are one hundred ten (110) slangs used in the Chef movie. In addition, the domain is the typical utterances that are used by the speakers. And the dominant domain in this research is community domain .
