Abstract

The thesis about Charles Dickens‘s novel which tells about a man who was visited by three ghosts who give lessons in life to the main character, Ebenezer Scrooge. The main purpose of this thesis is to show the conflict of the main character Ebenezer Scrooge in general. The conflict is classified into internal and external conflict. The internal conflict occurs because Scrooge feels anxiety, fear, and disappointed that effect to the main character‘s inner soul. The external conflict occurs between him self with another person who influences the psychological condition The data of this thesis taken from a novel entitled A Christmas Carol. This novel analyzed to find out the character, the conflicts which occurred towards the main character and the influence of conflicts towards the main character. The writer uses psychological approach to analyze this thesis. From the analysis the writer found that Scrooge experiences both external and internal character changes and the conflict which appears to himself influences Ebenezer Scrooge‘s attitudes.
