Abstract

Flowshop production scheduling is a crucial aspect of operations management aimed at optimizing the sequence of jobs on various machines to minimize the total completion time (makespan). PT. Kakimoto House Japan faces challenges in improving the efficiency of their production scheduling to meet the increasing demand. In this study, the Nawaz Enscore Ham (NEH) metaheuristic method was applied to solve the flowshop production scheduling problem in the company. The NEH method was chosen for its ability to sequence jobs based on total processing time and find the optimal position to minimize makespan. This research implements the NEH method using real data from PT. Kakimoto House Japan, with a primary focus on optimizing job sequences to achieve minimal makespan. The results show that the NEH method successfully improved efficiency by 6.19% compared to the First In First Out (FIFO) method used by the company. It is hoped that the findings of this study can provide practical solutions to overcome complex production scheduling challenges, enabling PT. Kakimoto House Japan to be more competitive in meeting dynamic market demands.
