Abstract
This research is entitled “METAPHORICAL EXRESSIONS CREATED IN JASON MRAZ‟S ALBUM ENTITLED “WE SING, WE DANCE, WE STEAL THINGS”. It analyzes the lyrics in Jason Mraz‟s song, which have metaphorical language. The objective of this study is to determine the types of metaphorical language in the Jason Mraz. The researcher used documentation as the method of collecting the data. This method was proposed to collect the metaphors that are expressed in Jason Mraz‟s songs third album entitled “We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Thing”. Based on the result of analysis, it can be concluded that in creating the song lyric Jason Mraz has not used all types of metaphorical language. There are 48 metaphorical expression used in Jason Mraz‟s songs consisting of Hyperbole 23 data (47,9%), Personification 10 data (20,8%), Simile 7 data (14,6%), Metonymy 3 data (6,25%), Paradox 3 data (6,25%), and Epithet 2 data (4,2%). Such expressions as Eponym, Oxymoron, Synecdoche and Pun or Paronomasia are not used in the songs lyrics.
