Abstract
This research paper is aimed at analyzing turn construction unit, turn taking system category and dominant speaker in Oprah Winfrey Show Video Downloaded from http: // www.tubemate.com July 6 th 2013. The results of the study indicate that turn construction units of initiation categories that consist of a single lexical item is as many as 18 units, a phrase is as many as 1 unit, a clause is as many as 15 units, and a sentence is as many as 82 units. In addition turn construction unit of responses consist of a single lexical item is as many as 11 units, a phrase as many as 5 units, a clause is as many as 14 units, a sentences is as many as 82 units. Secondly, the turn taking system categories consist of current speaker selects next speaker: 1a. Selects a different speaker is as many as 89 units, 1b. Current speaker select next speaker (1b=select self) is as many as 71 units and next speaker self selects is as many as 68 units. In addition, there are 228 units of dialogues. It describes about speaker frequency, they are Oprah (O) is as many as 96 units, Will Smith (W) is as many as 61 units, Jada Pinket Smith is as many as 46 units, Will & Jada Smith is as many as 3 units, Trey is as many as 5 units, Jaden is as many as 11 units, Willow is as many as 4 units, Trey’s Mama is 1 unit and Guest is as many as 1 unit.
