Abstract
This study examines mood system in a song lyric of Brick By Boring Brick written by Paramore. we will know what the song writer has already been felt about his or her feeling written in the song. Song lyric always becomes an important part of the song. Song lyric has relationship with the language used in it. Language has some functions, such as to communicate with the other, share the idea, to argue about something, and even to show people’s attitude. The theory proposed by Halliday (2004) was used as the framework to analyze the mood types and tenor of the discourse built in the song lyric and the result of which identified that the mood types in the conversations are 40.81% imperative clauses and 59.19% unmarked declarative clauses as the majority, it means that the commodity exchange in the movie script is mostly giving information. The most mood adjunct are circumstantial adjunct and vocative adjunct. Tenor of the discourse also consider the relationship between language and context of the song lyric.
