Abstract
ABSTRACT Prakoso, Ipung. 2016. Discrimination on Women in Politic in Katja von Garnier’s “Iron Jawed Angels” Movie: as a Feminism Study. Final project in a Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for a Degree award of Sarjana Sastra in English Language and Literature, Supervised by Yulistiyanti, S.S, M. Hum. This final project aims at discrimination on women in politic in the United State in the end of 1920 when women did not get the right to vote. This final project focus on the movie Katja von Garnier’s Iron Jawed Angels tells the struggle of women demanding equal rights. It leads the writer to conduct a study entiteled Discriminationon Women In Politic In Katja von Garnier’s Iron Jawed Angels movie. By analizing the movie with liberal feminism. The movies shows three discrminitaion on women in politic, domestic and double racism on african american women. And to get their right women suffragist make a silent picketing in the White House and a hunger strike in the jail. 19th Amendments was the conclusion of battle that includes many groups who went through supporting women suffrage. The 19th amendment has a profound effect on all women in the United States.The conclusions of this study are that a woman has to persistently struggle for her rights, including suffrage which is considered as starting rights influencing not only politics, but also social and economy. No matter on suffragist or suffragette tactics she committed, it would be good since the purpose is to improve women’s prosperity in society. Key Words: Discrimination, liberal feminism, women suffrage, 19th Amendment.
