Abstract

This research entitled “Code Mixing Used by Members of Kaskus, The Largest Indonesian Community” is aimed to describe the use of code mixing by the members of Kaskus. The problems in this research are (1) what are the forms of code mixing in Kaskus?, (2) what type of code mixing is dominantly used by the member of Kaskus?, (3) what are the factors influencing the use of code mixing used by the members of Kaskus?. To answer the questions, the writer applies descriptive qualitative method. This method does not include any calculation or numeration. Therefore, the data concerned appear in words rather than in number. The researcher applied documentation as the way to collect the data. From the results of the study, the writers found the code mixing used in Kaskus are in the forms of words, phrases, idioms, clauses, word reduplications, and hybrids and type of code mixing dominantly used is outer code mixing. The writer also found the factors influencing code mixing in Kaskus are synonym, social value, the development and knowledge of a new culture, Low Frequency of Words, pernicious homonymy, oversight, and end. This research results can be used as the reference in teaching sociolinguistic especially code mixing.
