Abstract

ABSTRACT Nathania, Nila, 2015. Interlanguage Analysis in Recount Texts Produced by the Third Semester Students of English Program of FBIB Stikubank University Semarang in the Academic Year 2014-2015, Supervisor: Drs. Liliek Soepriatmadji, M.Pd. Keyword: interlanguage analysis, written text, sentence The research paper is entitled “. Interlanguage Analysis in Recount Texts Produced by the Third Semester Students of English Program of FBIB Stikubank University Semarang in the academic year 2014-2015”. In this research paper, the writer identified the problem areas interlanguage (grammatical category, morphology category,lexicon category).This research is qualitative research. The writer took the recount texts made by the third semester students of English Program of FBIB Stikubank University Semarang in the academic year 2014-2015 as the data of this study. The data were analyzed by using four steps: first, segmenting the texts into the sentences, second, Identifying the interlanguage errors, third, Identifying the generic structure potential, fourth, Classifying the interlanguage errors. The results show that there are 199 errors. Based on grammatical category, they are past tense (37.7%), perfect tense (3.8%), gerund (1.09%), definite article (8.8%), indifinite article (5.5%) conjunction (6.01%), preposition (15.8%), to infinitive (7.7%), verb phrase (1.7%), concord: subject finite (0.5%), plurality (6.6%), pronoun (4.3%), relative pronoun (0.5%). Based on lexical category,diction (14.2%) spelling (35.8%), choice of word (21.5%), error of meaning (28.5%). Based on problem area, they are grammatical category (91.9%), lexical category (7.03%), and generic structure potential category (1.07%). The most dominantinterlanguage is grammatical category (91.9%). It means the students have not mastered grammar and the students‟ capability about grammar is not well. The students were still confused about grammar.
