Abstract
The Research Paper is entitled “The Code Switching Produced by The Characters of Ai Fai Thank You Love You Movie”. The writer choose the title because code switching is an interesting topic to discuss and also there are a lot of code switching found in “Ai Fai Thank You Love You” movie. This paper has two objectives, first, it is aimed at finding the realization of code switching in “Ai Fai Thank You Love You” movie. Secondly, it is aimed at establishing the meaning of code switching that exists in “Ai Fai Thank You Love You” movie. All of code switching found in Ai Fai Thank You Love You movie was taken to be the data. In finding the realization of code switching and its use, the writer downloaded the movie and the transcript. In analyzing the data, the writer applied qualitative method. The result shows that there are one hundred eighty seven (187) phenomenon of code switching, they are inter-sentential code switching (159), intra-sentential code switching (27), and tag switching (1). Frequently, code switching is used to make an communication more effectively (79.68%), to ease communication (13.37%), to emphasize a point (4.28%), to convey precious meaning (1.60%), to capture attention (1.07%).
