Abstract
Dialect is variations of language. English has many kinds of dialects in the world, like American English, British English, Singapore English, etc. This research paper investigated dialect of American English and British English found in the Editorial of Jakarta Globe published every Tuesday in August 2015. Its analysis is based on the grammatical areas, there are Lexicon and Syntax. To get the data, the writer takes five (5) Editorials. There are 56 sentences from five (5) Editorials, and 16 sentences including into grammatical areas. In analyzing the data, the writer applied six stages-methods: (1) downloaded the data, (2) re-reading the data, (3) identifying sentences to the Lexicon and Syntax, (4) categorizing based on their grammatical areas, (5) interpreting the categorized data, (6) tabulating the findings, and (7) interpreting the findings. For the findings, the American English of Syntax (72.7%), while in British English (27.3%). For the American English of Lexicon (80%), while, British English (20%). It indicates the Editorial of Jakarta Globe dominantly used American English.
