Abstract

This research paper is aimed to analyze turn allocational units, turn construction units and turn taking strategies in James Corden Talk Show ―The Late Late Show‖ With Anjelica Huston, Wilmer Valderrama & Shawn Mendes Broadcast on CBS TV 28 September 2016. The results of the study indicate that turn allocational units consist of current speaker selects next speaker (different speaker) covers as many as 32 units and selects a select self as many as 16 units), Current next speaker select self is as many as 30 units. Secondly, turn construction units of initiation and response consist of a single lexical item reaches as many as 9 units, a phrase as many as 11 units, a clause as many as 6 units a sentence as many as 52 units. The turn taking strategies consist of taking the turn (starting up consist of 2 of clean start and 1 of hesitant start, taking over consist of 3 of uptakes and 4 of link, interrupting consist of 7 of alert and 4 of metta comment), holding the turn (Filled Pause 1 unit, silent pauses 2 units, lexical repetition 4 units, new start 3 units) yielding the turn (prompting 2 units, appealing 1 unit, giving up 1 unit).
