Abstract

Staying at the hotel becomes a comman thing since a lot of people go somewhere for travel, either for a leisure or a bussiness trip. People would prefer a simplicity which is offered by a hotel. The aim of this research is to explain about the generic structure of check-in and check-out process so it will be useful for those who work in hospitality industry especially for the receptionists. This research use technique of data gathering by recording the exchange, listening the recording, transcribing the conversation and coding. The analysis showed that there are 3 stages that should be implemented in check in process, those are welcoming, registration and closing. The stages in check-out process are confirmed, complement of stay, billing, wishing a nice trip, expecting future stay and thanking. All the stages mentioned are functioned to reach the communicative purposes.The communicative purpose of check-in process is definetely to make a potential guest feel welcomed. Check-out process is an important function as same as check-in process, the comunicative purpose is to make the guest financially settled and feel happy to return the hotel as both reserved and non-reserved guests in the future hospitality dealings.
