Abstract
This research paper is entitled “ An Analysis of Figurtive Expression Found in William wordsworth‟s “ I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud”. This study works to focus on the figurative expressions in poetry “ I Wandered Lonely as a Could ” by William Wordswoth. In conducting the research, the writer focused in his observation on figurative language used in William Wordsworth poetry. The writer used data to find out the characteristic and the meaning of the figurative languages used or applied in William Wordsworth. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded the presentence of the figurative language, i.e. Personification (33%), imagery (22%), simile(22%), symbols (11%), metaphor (11%), alliteration (5%). In poetry of “I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud” William Wordsworth mostly used the kind of figurative language. Because William Wordsworth wants to give more human charateristic of what he sees in the nature. And his idea is telling the reader that the nature is a power and able to describe how its feeling and that make the poem more imaginative and livelier.
