Abstract
In this thesis the writer analyzed the elements of a novel by John Grisham, Skipping Christmas. It focused on the anti-social personalities of the main characters, Luther and Nora. The writer analyzed about how Luther and Nora got the anti-social personalities, the impact of their behaviour toward their society and themselves, then how they realized that it was not a wise decision for being an anti-social and began to respect others. The writer applied some approximation methods to analyze this novel, there are srtuctural approach, such as character, plot, and setting and sociological approach to show the relationship between setting and personality. The writer also collected some references from books and internet. From this novel, the writer focused on discussing Luther and Nora Krank’s anti-social personalities. Luther is a hard worker and miserly man. While Nora is a kind-hearted and careful woman. For some reasons, Luther and Nora become anti-socials person, they want to skip Christmas and avoid to take a part in any activities during Christmas season. It creates external conflict to their neighbors. The neighbors can not accept their decision, because it may endanger their winning to be the best decoration in Hemlock. Their anti-social behaviour end when their daughter, Blair suddenly calls to inform them that she is on the way home, beacause at last, they need help from the neighbors.
