Abstract
This research is about the interpersonal meaning as a tenor and mood system, which is realized in the leaflets produced by Sragen Tourism Department. The interpersonal meanings in the leaflets are realized through TENOR and MOOD. The writer identified the interpersonal meanings, mood, and elaborated the tenor of the discourse used in the leaflets. From the findings, there are 113 declarative moods, 109 of them are declarative positive, while 4 of them are declarative negative from the text of three leaflets. It is evident that the tourism leaflets consist of declarative mood type, with no interrogative or imperative mood type. Most of the mood types are positive declaratives which possibly indicate that the writer of the leaflets conducts explanatory and promotion actions, rather than critics. The tenor of the discourse shows that the writer maintains social distance without hierarchical relation through the use of fused or conflated finities. The relation between the writer and the speaker is equal, yet distant. Some finities in the form of modality and mood adjunct may convey an implicit promoting technique which show that the writer plays explicitly as informer, and implicitly as persuader toward the reader by describing some probabilities, possibilities, and popular habits regarding tourism objects.
