Abstract

This Final Project is entitled “Error Analysis of the Conclusions of Students‟ Final Projects”. The objectives of the study are to find the categories and the factors of error which the students‟ made in their conclusions of Final Projects in the academic year 2017/2018. This research focused on Grammatical Errors; tenses, misspelling, capitalization, punctuation, plurality, article, spacing, and other errors. The researcher discussed the data using descriptive qualitative which means the data were explained descriptively. The researcher has several steps to analyze the data; reading, identifying, categorizing the error based on the theories of error analysis proposed by Richard (1971), Richard and Stenson (1978), Brown (1980), Dulay, Burt and Krashen (1982) and Norrish (1983), the last is putting the categorized errors into a predetermined table. In analyzing the data, the researcher found 369 errors within 171 sentences (49.4%). The errors are dominated by the category of punctuation found 72 errors or 19.6% and the least is dominated by article noticed 16 errors or 4.3%. The most factor that students made is overgeneralization noticed in 6 categories (75%).
