Abstract
This research paper is entitled INTERLANGUAGE UTTERED BY THE EMPLOYEES OF CHANTI HOTEL SEMARANG. The objectives of the study are : to investigate the errors which are produced in daily communications by the employees of Chanti Hotel Semarang and to describe how the errors occur in daily communications by the employees of Chanti Hotel Semarang. This research is qualitative research. The data were analyzed by theory of Selinker (1972). The researcher discussed the data using descriptive explanation. Based on the data analysis, the employees uttered 12 utterances that contain 202 words. The researcher found 28 error. The employee who used standard English is Enik because she only made 3 mistakes in 27 words or 11.1%. The result of analysis based on the types of interlanguage by Selinker (1972) is: LT as many as 7 mistakes (32.8%), TT as many as 0 mistake (0%), SLL as many as 0 mistake (0%), SLC as many as 17 mistakes (60.7%), and Overgeneralization as many as 4 mistakes (14.3%). It happens because of the difference of cognitive, environment, education, family, and others.
