Abstract
This thesis is an analysis of a short story entitled A Rose for Emily written by William Faulkner. The purpose of this study is to find the classification of the social classes that is reflected, the cause of classification of the social classes, and the effects of classification of the social classes on the short story A Rose for Emily. To analyze the short story, the writer uses the theory of sociology, namely Marxism from Karl Marx. The Karl Marx theory used is a class theory. After completing the analysis, the writer gets the results of the study, namely the discovery of classification of the social classes that are reflected in some characters there are the bourgouisie and the proletariat, there are cause of classification of social classes namely class awareness, and there are two effects of classification of the social classes namely alienation and conflict social.
