Abstract
Figurative language is a part of semantic. Semantic is a study about interpretation and meaning of words. This research aiming the types of figurative language used in the lyric of firework by Katy Perry and the contextual meaning of figurative language in the lyric. It is expected the result of this study will be useful for the people and students who studied linguistics especially semantics in figurative language and to know what kinds of figurative language is. The research using qualitative method. The data were obtained from a song lyric by Katy Perry with the tittle Firework. The researcher got the lyric from www.azlyrics.com with the title firework. From the analysis, the result of figurative language types that researchers found is simile, metaphor, hyperbole, affiliation, symbolic, Onomatopoeia. The researcher also put the literal meaning of each figurative language in the discussions.
