Abstract
The research aims to describe racism, to know how the characters fight against racism, and to know the impact of racism. It used Angie Thomas’ The Hate U Give as the primary object. The research applied racism theory by Henry and Tator. The approach is a racist approach. The methodology to do this study are as follows collecting data, analyzing data, and interpreting data. Racism in Angie Thomas’ The Hate U Give happens in school, the police institution and neighborhood. The characters fight against racism by telling the truth and doing protest. The impacts of racism are death of African-Americans and psychological health. This study has several conclusions, namely the unfair treatment by white people towards African-Americans and they are always considered bad and criminal in society.
