Abstract
This study aims to examine and analyze (1) the effect of independent learning on student engagement in learning; (2) the influence of individual interest in chemistry subjects on student engagement in learning; (3) the effect of parental support on student engagement in learning; (4) parental support strengthens the influence of independent learning on student engagement in learning; (5) parental support strengthens the influence of individual interest in chemistry lessons on student engagement in learning during the Covid 19 pandemic. This type of research is explanatory research. The population used is all students of class XI SCIENCE SMA Negeri 7 Semarang, totaling 182 students. The instrument used in data collection was a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The analysis technique uses a moderated quasi-regression model. The research findings obtained are independent learning has a positive effect on student engagement in learning. Individual interest in chemistry lessons has a positive effect on student engagement in learning. Parental support has a positive effect on student engagement in learning. Parental support weakens the influence of independent learning on student engagement. Parental support strengthens the influence of individual interest in chemistry subjects on student engagement in learning.
