Abstract
This research paper entitled An Analysis of Speech Functions In Cinderella Movie is aimed to find out the types of speech functions which the characters in the dialogues and to describe the speech functions that the characters express in the “Cinderella” movie. The study was designed in descriptive qualitative method. The analysis is based on the theory of speech function by Gerot and Wignell (1995), and Halliday (1994: 69) speech functions have 2 responses, they are supporting and confronting responses. The type of speech functions which dominate is question, and the least is offer. There are 57 (50%) of question , and the least offer 4 (3.51%).
