Abstract
Code switching and code mixing is a condition when speaker mixes one language with another in their speaking activities. This research focuses on the code switching and code mixing used in SBY‟s speech. This research is aimed to describe language form used in SBY‟s political speech. This research will show types of code switching and code moxing in the speech. The type of research is descriptive qualitative research. Object of research is language form of code switching and code mixing used in SBY‟s speech. In collecting data, the writer uses documentation technique. The writer collects the data from the site presiden.pnri.go.id. The findings show that types of code switching is SBY‟s speech are: internal, external, metaphor, situational, temporary, and permanent. Meanwhile SBY also used code mixing as well. Based on the language element insertion, SBY inserted word, phrase, clause, and repetition in the speech. Beside that based on the language origin, there are inner and outer code mixings. Social background has a dominant influence in SBY speech.
