Abstract
In this study I focus on the sexual mental disorder in the novel entitled Trilogy Fifty Shades by E.L James. The objectives of the study are to know what sadomasochism is depicted in novel Fifty Shade Trilogy by E.L James. The second is to identify the factors that cause main character sadomasochism in Fifty Shade Trilogy by E.L James. This study belongs to qualitative study because the data are not numerical data. The primary source that is used by the researcher is the novel. The secondary sources are from books or articles that contain necessary theories that are necessary to complete the objectives of this study. The theory is sexual sadomasochism. There are two findings in this study. The first one reveals that Christian Grey is a sadomasochist based on the way he gains sexual excitement by inflicting pain, suffering, and humiliation. The second reveals that Christian Grey also demonstrates a sadomasochistic sexual intercourse through spanking, whipping, blindfolding, and physical bondage.
