Abstract

This study reveals a big gap and social struggle that occur in the film The Hunger Games with the Marxist theory approach. The purpose of this paper is to find the oppression that occurred in each district in the perspective of Marxism. Data is collected by watching screen play films and noting some important quotes related to the topic. After analyzing the data, it can be concluded that The Hunger Games film has described the country with ideology capitalism which is illustrated by the differences in classes between owners capital (the bourgeoisie) and the workers (proletariat) and the existence of feudalism is illustrated by the Capitol who wants the entire district to follow the rules made by The Capitol itself with a view to having full power. Capitalism greatly influences behavior, individualism is not inevitable. Everyone pursues personal needs and comfort. Humans become more concerned about their own interests, even sacrifice the interests of others who make whoever they can master, he is the one who enjoys. There is a class classification in this country make the workers fight against the country for the sake of life they are more worthy.
