Abstract
America is the country that has the darkest history of racial oppression by white people on black people. Racism, discrimination and rebellion are still a serious problem to this day. In this case, minority groups are treated differently or even mistreated by omit the more dominant groups. The purpose of this research is to understand how racism cases occur in America and how they affect Afro-Americans who experience injustice. From the analysis of The Butler (2013) movie, the researcher used Harold Baron's theory and viewed it from a social approach. In analysing The Butler (2013) movie, the researcher examines using descriptive qualitative studies. There are two sources of data, namely primary and secondary data. The primary data source is The Butler (2013) movie and the screenplay of the movie, whereas the secondary data sources are obtained from books or e-books and journals which related to the primary data sources. The researcher collects data by viewing the movie, reading screenplay, identifying data, then interpreting and analysing data. The results of this study show how Afro-Americans struggle with racism in the 19th and 20th centuries. They also want to have the same equality as white people.
