Abstract

The research attempts to analyze self actualization of Kate Coleman‟s character in the Orphan‟s film. The thesis entitled “Self actualization of Kate Coleman’s character in Jaume Collet Serra’s film as Psychoanalysis study. ” has three research questions. They are (1) How are the character and characterization of Kate Coleman? (2) What the conflict are faced by Kate Coleman? (3) How is the self actualization of Kate Coleman? This research used qualitative method. The script of Orphan was downloaded from http://www.imsdb.com/scripts/orphan.html. Then it was retyped in Microsoft Office Word 2007 for ease fragmenting during the process analysis. In order to analyze Kate Coleman, the writer uses method of Library research to collect data, which support the writing material, namely books, and Internet data. In order to determine the aims of this thesis, the writer uses structural approach and psychological approach. Structural approach analyzes intrinsic elements of Kate Coleman; its character, characterization, and Conflict. Psychological approach analyzes the extrinsic elements of Kate Coleman‟s self actualization.
