Abstract
The goal of this research is to characterize three aspects of Maria Airam's personality in Assaf Bernstein's film Look Away: (1) personality structure, (2) personality dynamics and (3) find out the causes and effects of the main character‟s personality in film Look Away. The author employs Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory in this study. The data for this study comes from Assaf Bernstein's film Look Away, which was released on October 18, 2018 and received a 5.8 rating. The information was gathered through the use of listening, reading, and note-taking approaches. This is a qualitative descriptive research project. Experts were consulted about the veracity of this research data (expert judgment). The study‟s findings are as follows: (1) The main character, Maria, has an Id, Ego, and Superego personality structure. As a result of her daily loneliness, the id influences the main character to pursue her satisfaction by exchanging life positions with her mirror reflection sister, the ego relieves the main character‟s anxieties, and the superego controls the main character‟s attitudes Maria. (2) The main character Maria Airam‟s personality dynamics include a life instinct (eros), a death instinct (thanatos), neurotic anxiety, and realistic anxiety. The id system dominates life instincts in the form of Maria Airam‟s desire or libido for Sean and her attempts to survive in order to find her identity as a child. Maria develops the death instinct out of desperation after swapping places with her mirror reflection sister and failing to find what she truly desires. Maria experiences neurotic anxiety when she discovers she has a twin sister who died during her birth, and realistic anxiety when she murders her boyfriend Sean, her friend Lily, and her father, Dan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkarakterisasi tiga aspek kepribadian Maria Airam dalam film Assaf Bernstein Look Away: (1) struktur kepribadian, (2) dinamika kepribadian dan (3) mengetahui sebab dan akibat dari kepribadian tokoh utama dalam film Look Away. Penulis menggunakan teori psikoanalitik Sigmund Freud dalam penelitian ini. Data untuk penelitian ini berasal dari film Assaf Bernstein Look Away yang dirilis pada 18 Oktober 2018 dan mendapat rating 5,8. Informasi dikumpulkan melalui penggunaan pendekatan mendengarkan, membaca, dan mencatat. Ini adalah proyek penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Para ahli dikonsultasikan mengenai kebenaran data penelitian ini (expert judgement). Temuan penelitian adalah sebagai berikut: (1) Tokoh utama, Maria, memiliki struktur kepribadian Id, Ego, dan Superego. Akibat dari kesepiannya sehari-hari, id mempengaruhi karakter utama untuk mengejar kepuasannya dengan bertukar posisi hidup dengan saudara perempuan cermin cerminnya, ego meredakan kecemasan karakter utama, dan superego mengendalikan sikap karakter utama Maria. (2) Dinamika kepribadian tokoh utama Maria Airam meliputi naluri hidup (eros), naluri kematian (thanatos), kecemasan neurotik, dan kecemasan realistik. Sistem id mendominasi naluri hidup berupa hasrat atau libido Maria Airam terhadap Sean dan upayanya untuk bertahan hidup guna menemukan jati dirinya sebagai seorang anak. Maria mengembangkan insting kematian karena putus asa setelah bertukar tempat dengan saudara perempuan bayangan cerminnya dan gagal menemukan apa yang benar-benar diinginkannya. Maria mengalami kecemasan neurotik ketika dia mengetahui bahwa dia memiliki saudara kembar yang meninggal selama kelahirannya, dan kecemasan yang realistis ketika dia membunuh pacarnya Sean, temannya Lily, dan ayahnya, Dan.
