Abstract
This study analyzes a psychoanalytical study based on Freudian Personality Theory. It investigates a movie titled From Hell (2001) with major focus on Jack The Ripper as the antagonist. This study uses a descriptive qualitative study in which the proposed to apply the psychoanalytically observe and analyze major characters of From Hell (2001) movie. This study aims to investigate the personality and murder’s motivation of Jack The Ripper as the antagonist of the movie by applying Freudian Psychoanalytic Theory: The Tripartite Psyche Model which consists of three points namely: id, ego, and superego. In this study, the writer takes Freudian Psychoanalytic Approach because this theory systematically presents the dynamic of personality which relates a lot to the title of this study. The result of analysis shows that Jack the Ripper is Sir William. The writer concludes his personality into three points: id, ego, and superego. And his motivation into two points: the corruption of the ego as murder’s motivation and the distortion of external reality as ego defense mechanism
