Abstract
(2) How is Carl Jung's theory realized in the short story of Peter Jay Novin characteristics? This study uses a psychoanalysis approach from Carl Jung's theory. In this study, the writer applied descriptive research in text analysis to analyze the characteristics of main characters in this literary work. Data was collected through reading Shatterday. Then highlight the quotations relevant to the problem. Analysis is done by identifying the characterizations applied by the characters in the short story. This study shows the characterization of the main character. This study analysis found the personality.it called dissociative identity disorder. This is a multiple personality disorder, a reaction that usually helps a person avoid bad memories. Dissociative Identity Disorder also occurs in people who hate their own life and everyday features. In dissociative identity disorder, people lose control of their consciousness and eventually create new identities called their shadows. In this literary work, which the author described above, the main characters create their own shadows with different characteristics and personalities.
