Abstract

The Indonesian education system should implement English instruction as early as feasible. Even though learning English is equivalent to learning a second language, this has a significant impact on the future generation of the nation. However, the issue resurfaces when acquiring English vocabulary will be incorporated into the attractive Indonesian education system beginning in elementary school. Based on the aforementioned concerns, researchers have investigated English vocabulary learning in elementary schools, particularly Purwosari 01 Elementary School, South Semarang in grade 4, using a video-based learning method. The participants included 22 fourth-grade students and an English teacher who served as the homeroom teacher. Based on a month's worth of research, researchers have discovered that acquiring English vocabulary using the video - based learning method produces significant results and a favourable perception among both teachers and students. In addition, the video learning method is also capable of generating interest in English learning. Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris pada dasarnya merupakan pembelajaran yang perlu diterapkan sedini mungkin dalam sistem pendidikan di Indonesia. Meskipun mempelajari Bahasa Inggris merupakan pembelajaran bahasa second language, namun hal ini memiliki dampak yang begitu besar bagi menciptakan generasi penerus bangsa di masa yang akan datang. Namun, permasalahan kembali muncul ketika bagaimana pembelajaran kosa kata Bahasa Inggris akan diaplikasikan dalam sistem pendidikan di Indonesia sejak sekolah dasar yang menarik bagi anak-anak. Berdasarkan permasalahan diatas, peneliti telah melakukan penelitian untuk melakukan investigasi mengenai pembelajaran kosa kata Bahasa Inggris untuk sekolah dasar khususnya Sekolah Dasar Purwosari 01 Semarang Selatan pada kelas 4 menggunakan metode pembelajaran Video - Based Learning. Jumlah participant yang terlibat merupakan siswa kelas 4 (22 siswa) dan seorang guru Bahasa Inggris yang merupakan guru wali kelas. Berdasarkan penelitian yang sudah dilaksakan selama satu bulan, peneliti telah menemukan hasil dimana pembelajaran kosa kata Bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan metode Video - Based Learning menunjukkan hasil signifikan serta menciptakan positif perception, baik dari guru maupun dari siswa. Tidak hanya itu saja, pembelajaran menggunakan metode Video - Based Learning juga mampu menciptakan ketertarikan dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris.
