Abstract

This study discusses about the main character of Rachel Chu in “Crazy Rich Asian” novel and this research uses a qualitative approach to examine the manifestation of feminism in the novel "Crazy Rich Asians" by Kevin Kwan. Before exploring De Beauvoir’s feminism, researcher has read the novel first to obtain precise findings. This research is based on various previous studies that discuss the topic of feminism. Feminism, which advocates for gender equality through legal and political reform within existing social structures, serves as a theoretical framework to investigate how Rachel Chu navigates and challenges the gender norms and expectations imposed on her by Nick Young and her prominent family. Rachel epitomizes the ideals of feminism through her self-confidence and perseverance, which underscores the ongoing fight for gender equality in modern society. Through a demonstration of how fictional characters can reflect and inspire real-world feminist movements, this research highlights the importance of liberal feminist values in literature.
