Abstract
ABSTRACT Berlian, Dicky, 2022. The Women Freedom in Mad Max: Fury Road Movie As Feminism Study. A Research Paper, Faculty of Law and Language. University of Stikubank (UNISBANK) Semarang. Supervisor: Endang Yuliani Rahayu, S.S.,M.Pd. This thesis is focused on feminism study. Highlight female characters who seek the freedom from patriarchal groups. This study is based on Simone de Beauvoir's theory. This theory is concerned with women's struggle against gender discrimination, in which women are seen as the second gender. The data of this study is taken from the Mad Max: Fury Road movie, especially from the movie scenes, movie script and the characterization of the female characters. This study discusses about the struggles to achieve women freedom by the female characters are discussed in the analysis of the Mad Max: Fury Road movie. The study results concluded that this film is about to find of a justice, better life, and better place to live, Immortan Joe's subjects rise against him in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), which reveals this uprising. Immortan Joe's oppression of the women around him, in the writer’s view, serves as a symbol of the patriarchal society.
