Abstract

Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi ujaran kebencian di media sosial yang melibatkan interpretasi dan subjektivitas. Apa yang dianggap sebagai ujaran kebencian oleh satu individu belum tentu dianggap sebagai ujaran kebencian oleh individu lain. Oleh karena itu, peneliti menganalisis ujaran kebencian di media sosial Justin Bieber secara konseptual dan kontekstual dengan teori kritik respons pembaca oleh Stanley Fish dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Realitas yang dipaparkan adalah mengenai pernyataan dan perilaku yang ditunjukkan oleh Justin Bieber di akun media sosial pribadinya. Tanggapan dari para pengguna dapat berbeda-beda tergantung dari pengetahuan dan pengalaman masing-masing. Setiap pengguna memiliki kebebasan penuh untuk memberikan makna dan menginterpretasikan teks yang diberikan kepadanya sesuai dengan apa yang mereka alami atau rasakan. Tidak ada penafsiran yang salah atau benar dari konsep respon pembaca karena yang dilihat adalah bagaimana pembaca dapat memberikan respon dan makna dari teks yang disajikan kepadanya. Kesimpulannya, pembaca mengharapkan Justin Bieber setidaknya membela istrinya terlebih dahulu dalam permasalahannya dengan mantan pacarnya, baru kemudian memberikan pembelaan atau dukungan terhadap permasalahan yang dimiliki oleh publik figur lainnya. Selain itu, pembaca juga mengharapkan Justin Bieber memiliki perilaku yang lebih baik dan kembali menjadi Justin yang "dulu" sebelum kehidupannya penuh dengan hal-hal yang kontroversial. This research identifies hate speech on social media involving interpretation and subjectivity. What is considered hate speech by one individual may not be considered hate speech by another. Therefore, the researcher analyzed the social media hate speech of Justin Bieber conceptually and contextually with a reader response criticism theory by Stanley Fish using a descriptive qualitative method. The reality presented is about the statements and behavior shown by Justin Bieber on his personal social media accounts. The responses of the users can vary depending on their respective knowledge and experiences. Each user has full freedom to give meaning and interpret the text given to them according to what they experience or feel. There is no wrong or right interpretation of the concept of reader response because what is seen is how readers can provide responses and meanings from the text presented to them. In conclusion, readers expect Justin Bieber to at least defend his wife first in her problems with her ex-boyfriend, and then provide defense or support to problems that other public figures have. In addition, readers also expect Justin Bieber to have better behavior and return to the "previous" Justin before his life was full of controversial things.
