Abstract

This study discusses the oppression and injustice that occurs in The Duchess movie using feminism theory. This study aims to analyze the main female character portrayed as women in 18th Century, to analyze oppression and injustice experience by main female character and to find out the effects of oppression and injustice toward main female character. The researcher applied Kate Millet’s theory of feminism in Sexual Politics. This research used qualitative method, the data source are movie and screenplay of The Duchess (2008). The findings showed the main female character is described as obedient women, she is experience oppression and injustice, and the effects are being depressed, being excluded and being disappointed.
